She gave out her information that should only be kept to herself. She only used her debit card, which is less secure than a credit card.

Everyone is hard up for money, and other things. They think that the person they're stealing their identity from, doesn't deserve what they have, so they take it.

Debit card, credit card, SSN.
o What are some ideas that you would suggest to someone to protect their identity from being stolen.
Keep all their information to themselves. Don't give anyone your SSN or your pin number for anything, they might not be who you think they are.
o Who do you think is to blame, the person stealing the identity, or the person who is not protecting themselves from identity theft?
The person stealing the identity because it's not right. Just because the person wasn't cautious about the information they were giving out, it doesn't give the person who's stealing the identity, the right to do so.
