The River of Doubt
It was December in 1913, and Theodore Roosevelt decided to travel to the uncharted river called River of Doubt. Kermit, Roosevelt's son decided to go with Roosevelt to chart the River of Doubt. Roosevelt teamed up with Candido Rondon, who was a good explorer. They started on their trip, and came across many difficulties. A man on their expedition with them began to steal food. One of the men drowned in the river, and another one was killed by one of their own guys. Below them, there was 15 ft Caimans and razor-toothed piranhas.
Candido Rondon said that they should ditch the canoes and that it was ‘man for himself.’ As they started to venture through the dangerous forests, they were immediately attacked by stinging, biting bugs. A snake even bit Roosevelt’s boot, but luckily the boot saved him. They were shadowed by an Indian tribe, but the Indian tribe wouldn’t show themselves unless of the guys was by himself. Rondon left in search of food and an Indian guy came and attacked him, and killed his dog. Instead of Rondon fighting back, he left gifts for the Indians. He wanted peace; he didn’t want to fight the Indians.
All 3 men were suffering from illnesses, whether it was hunger or malaria. Roosevelt got malaria, and he felt too sick to go. He told Rondon and Kermit to go by themselves, and to not let him stop them or slow them down. Kermit told his dad that he was taking him back, whether he was alive or dead. Roosevelt wanted to kill himself, so he wouldn’t be such a burden. He also was in a lot of pain, from the malaria.
They began to go back to the US and they argued about how useless Kermit’s rope skills were, but his rope skills were what had saved the 3 of them. They managed to make it back to the US, but most of the men were killed or died. Kermit later committed suicide & they renamed the River of Doubt to Rio Roosevelt.

Copyright Laws.
When you write music when do you have copyrights?
Before and after you register with the copyright office.
How long do you have copyrights?
Many years, but you should register with the copyright office.
What does having copyright to music or lyrics really mean?
It means that you cannot reproduce it, distribute the lyrics or music for free, perform the song or lyrics, play a recording of the song in public or an arrangement for public use.
In the US what is the current year for Public Domain music?
Songs and lyrics published in the United States with a copyright date of 1922 or earlier are in the public domain.
What is the difference between public domain and proof of public domain?
Public domain means a composition that is not protected under copyright law and proof of public domain is where you have proof that it is not under any copy right law.
In your own words list rules for copyright music and lyrics.
1. You cannot remake the song.
2. You cannot sell the song for free.
3. You cannot play a recording of it in public.
4. You cannot reenact or perform the song.

One famous case on music:
Johnny Cash vs Gordon Jenkins. The song that was being questioned was "Second Dream:The Conductor." When they were compared with each other, they were alike. Johnny Cash's song seemed more experienced, but most of the lyrics were similar to the other one with a few words changed.

Identity Theft.
o What mistakes did this woman make to have her identity stolen?
She gave out her information that should only be kept to herself. She only used her debit card, which is less secure than a credit card.
o Why do you feel ID Theft is such a common problem these days?
Everyone is hard up for money, and other things. They think that the person they're stealing their identity from, doesn't deserve what they have, so they take it.
o What type of documents or personal belongings would someone have to obtain to steal a person’s identity?
Debit card, credit card, SSN.
o What are some ideas that you would suggest to someone to protect their identity from being stolen.
Keep all their information to themselves. Don't give anyone your SSN or your pin number for anything, they might not be who you think they are.
o Who do you think is to blame, the person stealing the identity, or the person who is not protecting themselves from identity theft?
The person stealing the identity because it's not right. Just because the person wasn't cautious about the information they were giving out, it doesn't give the person who's stealing the identity, the right to do so.

Emerging Technology.
An emerging technology could be Intelligent Mobile Clients. With this, mobile devices will be able to adjust to any bandwidth from wherever you are. Website application software will probably be available later in the year. This has great potiental, because you'll be able to download things faster, and be able to have your webpages load more quickly. It'll be very convienent & a lot faster than your mobile internet. I will probably be using this new technology item when it comes out.

Jean Hoerni
Jessica Maras. Online A. 5th Hour.
Jean Hoerni.
He invented the planar process. Instead of germanium, transistors were created out of silicon because of Hoerni’s invention. This allowed Fairchild Semiconductor to produce the 1st integrated circuit. Fairchild started a technological revolution, based on Jean Hoerni’s invention. Jean was one of the Traitorous Eight. Computers used to take up a lot of space, but because of Hoerni’s invention, we now have cell phones and smaller things to use. He’s the reason I’m able to use the computer I’m using now, and not have the computer be huge because it needs memory to store things, compared to a chip.
He made a huge impact on my own personal life, because now I don’t have to have a huge computer to use. He invented a chip that can store more information than before, yet have it smaller than before as well. I can take my cell phone on the go, same with my laptop. If he wouldn’t have invented the helpful chip, we would have huge computers and not have been able to store as much information. In conclusion, he made the computers a lot smaller, and allowed it to have more information. I’m so glad Hoerni invented the planar process.

QR.
1) Can your phone decode these messages?
Yes, it can. I have an Android.
My thought about the QR codes are that they're convienent & easy to use if you have the right app.
The purpose of QR codes in education is to have students understand the QR codes better & to be more engaged with school related things. The purpose of QR codes for advertising is a way to show a special message to the people that understand QR codes and to engage them to go to their page/website.
